The Weta. This is exactly what my brother used to say when I was little!

  1. Hee hee I still don't like them. They used to come inside on our firewood when we lived in Te Awamutu and one crawled on to my leg - I did a wild woman dance that time!

  2. LOL ! I put my foot in my running shoe once and wondered what the lumpy thing was. I threw my shoe about a mile when I saw it was a friendly weta!!

  3. I was bitten by a weta once, after plunging my hand into a flax bush to remove old leaves. My hand came out, complete with weta, holding on hard to the soft part between thumb and first finger. It wouldn't let go. In the end the only way to get it to leave was to relax! That was quite a lesson in self control. Funny thing is, I'm not so scared of them now.
