My Arty Challenge..

My final print from my tiny zinc plate.
It is not perfect but I am really fascinated by the process.
I was so out of my comfort zone and was thinking this printing thing isn't for me.
This morning I was thinking up excuses for not going to class,
but down I went and tutor Janice helped me with the final part of the process.

Three times I applied shellac and three times dipped my wee work of art into the acid bath
then ink and through the press..

how magic to see the final print with it's different shades.
I think I might be hooked.

  2. Thanks M. Would you believe I forgot my glasses! Lucky for me I had sunglasses with reading bits and I had to wear those! A half blind artist! There is a little bit of sky I missed, but never mind.. next time!

  5. Did anyone notice my shade map? How I numbered shading? Only I would be able to follow it! Tutor noticed! My poor brain. I do wonder!

  8. I am so impressed Joan and appreciate seeing a bit of the process here. There are so many moments in my life where I have reluctantly gone outside of my comfort zone and have gained so much in the process. Good for you for sticking with this. I hope you keep it up and keep us enlightened with how it is going for you. Penny

  9. Hej Joan, it's good that you did not give it up. It's very pretty. It's like telling a story about a fairy tale.

  12. Hello Helene! I agree..the process is complicated..especially for a bear of little brain! But there is a special quality about the outcome . A little like having a baby. You don't know how it looks until it appears from the press!
