My First ever etching..

This is my first ever etching.
Scratched onto plastic and put through the press.
Of course, I learn best by making mistakes!!
I was so surprised when my westerly wind changed direction!!

Last week I began preparing a zinc plate
and this is a whole new skill again. I'm a bit out of my comfort zone to say the least.
What with trying to get my boozooms to shimmy at belly dancing this week too..
Oh the things I do to myself!

  1. Simply beauty in black and white my favorite oh so lovely and so mid century modern in feel , I could never get the hang of etching because I could never see things backwards.

  3. I love this, it is simple and elegant (and I wouldn't have known it was backwards if you hadn't 'fessed up)

  4. Hi Joan, I think it's fantastic! It must be brilliant to be so artistic. I struggle with stick people! Jane xx

  5. I think this is brilliant J, I don't know anything about it but I imagine it's a bit like making a negative.

  7. You are an inspiration (though I can't help but think of 'would you like to come up and look at my etchings' in the style of English novel heroine about to get up to No Good)!

  9. I echo the sentiments above - you are an INSPIRATION! From learning how to shake your boozooms, to embrassing mistakes as creative teaching moments. I love the easterly wind :)
