  2. Wow! these are so evocative. They remind me of the women surrealist artists of the early 20th century, only your images are uplifting rather than disturbing.

  3. Hej Joan! I love your collages. They are very special and beautiful, and it is not just easy to compose them.
I'd like to show you some of the Danish queen Margrethe's work. She's working with both painting, costumes for ballet and collage = decoupage. It is used in books and films like this one: The Wild Swans. She also has a beautiful imagination like you. Please look at this little film clip if you like:

  4. Thank you juliet and Marilyn. I think I border on the surreal Juliet. Everything is metaphor to me.

Thank you Grethe..I found the clip and am amazed at Queen Margrethe's art. I love the collaged oceans and clouds and hilltop cities. I found her art under the name Ingerhild Grathmar. That was so inspiring..thank you.

  5. Joan, you have done yet other wonderful collages. I'm not an artist like yourself, but, I do often find myself a stranger to me. Interesting, is it not?

  6. i know exactly what you mean. sometimes you don't realize an image has settled so firmly inside you that it manifests at every creative turn. tapping into what is flowing around you is an amazing process.

  8. The vestments are interesting Teresa Evangeline. It is a bishop's mitre (headwear) but the colour blue is unusual. Red, green, white are the usual colours, but this is a cope, used for benediction, processions. Maybe a marian colour.
Why the apple. ?? I chose it for the colour ..but then thought..mm interesting symbol.

  9. Gorgeous, Joan! I always think creating is a journey without a destination...if that makes any sense.

  10. As a little girl who was raised with the rites and ceremony of the catholic church, the image of the bishop's robe juxtaposed with the child's eyes resonates within me. The red apple is very interesting. I immediately saw it as a symbol of stolen innocence. So much richness you have created.
