Rome..The Trevi Fountain..

I was ten when this movie was made, and I actually went to see it.  We had a movie in our local War Memorial Hall at Matakawau every Monday evening. Or was it one Monday a month? But I remember well the coins being tossed into the fountain.
This is my second time to Rome... so wishes do come true.
I just wish it was now as it is in the movie.. a handful of people and a beautiful fountain.  So many tourists now it rather kills the romance!

  1. Thank you Joan, oh those lovely memories. The time with all these wonderful romantic films we saw in the cinema. Now I only see them on dvd. You've inspired me yesterday to watch one of those Italian classics I bought recently. With Marcello Mastroianni and Sophia Loren. "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow". (Ieri, Oggi, Domani).Such a charming film and funny. Mastroianni and Loren are great in that film. Three short stories. First in Neaples, second in Milan and the third in Rome. Typical Italian.
I have seen this film a hundred years ago, but I wasn't disappointed now. It's still a good movie.
Thank you for the inspiration - and for this video with Doris Day. What a lovely voice she had. Sniff.

  2. Lovely pics -- the one time I visited Rome, the Trevi fountain was dry -- turned off for repairs. What a disappointment!

  4. Ah, what nostalgia! I too saw this movie as a child, and adored Doris Day. How beautifully she sings. Thank you for another wonderful trip Joan.

  6. I'm happy your wish came true. And, Doris Day lingers, such a beautiful voice, and, I confess, I wanted to look like her when I was a kid.
