This is my first ever etching.
Scratched onto plastic and put through the press.
Of course, I learn best by making mistakes!!
I was so surprised when my westerly wind changed direction!!
Last week I began preparing a zinc plate
and this is a whole new skill again. I'm a bit out of my comfort zone to say the least.
What with trying to get my boozooms to shimmy at belly dancing this week too..
Oh the things I do to myself!

Simply beauty in black and white my favorite oh so lovely and so mid century modern in feel , I could never get the hang of etching because I could never see things backwards.
ReplyDeleteThat makes me feel better thank you Julie! When I look at the prints below by famous artists I tell myself..just relax and be yourself!
ReplyDeleteI love this, it is simple and elegant (and I wouldn't have known it was backwards if you hadn't 'fessed up)
ReplyDeleteHi Joan, I think it's fantastic! It must be brilliant to be so artistic. I struggle with stick people! Jane xx
ReplyDeleteI think this is brilliant J, I don't know anything about it but I imagine it's a bit like making a negative.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for all the encouraging comments. I will keep on and hope for skills to develop!
ReplyDeleteYou are an inspiration (though I can't help but think of 'would you like to come up and look at my etchings' in the style of English novel heroine about to get up to No Good)!
ReplyDeleteps lovely post re Eve and the rose petals
Thank you KitchenMaid.. great incentive to keep etching! One etching doesn't sound enough does it! I went to your blog..hellooo!! Nobody quite there! The KitchenMaid must be working too hard!!
ReplyDeleteI echo the sentiments above - you are an INSPIRATION! From learning how to shake your boozooms, to embrassing mistakes as creative teaching moments. I love the easterly wind :)
ReplyDeleteI love this, Joan, easterly wind and all. You amaze me and give me the inspiration I need to keep trying different things and learning. Not too sure about trying to shake my boozooms, though.
ReplyDeleteTee hee I did not read it !!! You are silly for worring we all do typ os that is the creative challenge of blogging- reading between the lines!!
