A favourite song of mine is Working Man sung by Irish singer Kathy Durkin. I bought her CD while visiting Arigna Coalmine in Roscommon, Ireland. I could not find Kathy singing online but I found this on You Tube..Rita MacNeil..

  1. It's interesting that you should post that song by Rita McNeil as I was just going to say that I've been "down underground" at the coal mines off of Cape Breton at Glace Bay (where my mom is from). I have miners and mine-company clerks in my family and we can't help but be moved when anything like this occurs. They are in our prayers.

Thanks for the Rita and Men of the Deeps video!

  2. Thank you Kat. It is very moving to see the response from around the world of the mining industry and miners.. offering rescue help and expertise.

  3. This was a wonderful and touching video and song. I have coal miners in 3 lines of ancestors and not long ago did a post about them. This song and images add to my understanding of their lives. Thank you.

  4. I was in a gold mine once and it was hard for me to imagine spending a whole day in there, let alone working there full time - or being trapped. My heart goes out to those guys and their families.
